NGRHS vs BHS junior boys - September 20/2011

As usual, the boys play after the ladies so the light is even more at a premium, but I was able to squeeze out a lot of good files. I cannot do anything about the backgrounds on the New Germany field but I hope they are not too distracting. I left at halftime as I ran out of light; the f/5.6 maximum aperture on the 70-300mm VR has its limitations. Maybe someone can tell me who won the game....

NGRHS vs BHS junior girls action - September 20/2011

I have had these RAW files kicking around my desktop for over a week, it's been a very hectic stretch. I finally got around to pressing these and the results are pretty decent. As usual, the light was a challenge, as it was getting darker almost by the minute. I had to resort to ISO 800 for many of them, plus some cropping. I am still amazed at the quality of digital, this sort of thing would have been impossible with film - and VERY expensive. For the record, the New Germany gals won the game, handily, despite hitting a lot of goal posts!

U12 girls championship final

It was not the best of days for weather conditions, with a hurricane in the offing, but soccer games go on nonetheless. The light was actually almost perfect for these captures and the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 works wonders on the smaller NGES field. New Germany prevailed as the partisan home crowd cheered them on, congrats to them and to Yarmouth for great seasons - it's now time for provincials!
